“Transformed Me” Career Development & Counseling Initiative Launched in Nairobi

Nickpoint Media Trust’s “safe bridge initiative” and CATRA Educational Services & Consultants’ “Transformed Me” has launched a joint Consolidated Career Development and counseling initiative for the youth and young adults.

The first event took place on 8th, 9th &10th December, providing participants with the opportunity to learn & interact with expert facilitators and counselors.

Participants from primary, secondary schools and colleges/universities were taken through sessions on self awareness, Relationships, Developing positive copping mechanisms and personals skills.

The participant centered sessions were aimed at helping those in attendance to “go back into their past and look at their own life experiences with all its ups and downs, make sense out of this experiences, understand the meaning of failure and acquire relevant skills on how to transform failure into success.”

Speaking on behalf of organizers, the Director, CATRA Educational Services & Consultants who is also a Lecturer and Counselor at Tangaza University of Eastern Africa, Catherine Kisasa Muthonde said the next activities will take place during the April, August and December holidays in 2015.

Mrs Muthonde revealed that the plan is to have sessions during the April holiday, educational excursion in August and a grand camp in December where participants will be issued with certificates for participating in the program.

Ashley Munyi from Kianda School thanked her parents for sponsoring her to the program and thanked organizers on behalf of the other participants for the training sessions.

She said the program gave her a chance to learn new things and to freely discuss important matters the youth find difficult to discuss with their parents, teachers and guardians.

The youth program is founded on the two organizations’ common belief that with appropriate knowledge, life skills, career development support and progressive mentorship programs, young people can make informed decisions, right life and correct career choices towards a holistic sustainable & transformed life.
