2nd post 2015 high level political forum on sustainable development set for July, 2017

The forum provides for the full and effective participation of UN member states and states members of specialized agencies.


The second post 2015 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on development to be convened under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council has been scheduled for Monday, July 10th, 2017 to Wednesday, July 19th, 2017. A three-day ministerial meeting of the 2017 HLPF will be held on July 17th, 2017 to July 19th, 2017. The Forum will review the implementation of 7 of the 17 SDGs adopted by UN member countries in September 2015. The SDGs are the successor goals of the year 2000 UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which were implemented between the year 2000 and the end of 2015.

Goals on hunger, health, and gender among those to be reviewed

The goals to be reviewed at the political forum will include Sustainable Development Goal #17 which focuses on the strengthening of the means of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and revitalization of the global partnership for sustainable development.
